Despite garnering investments of over $70M, OTT provider Sezmi folded their tent today - and it is no wonder when you compare their value proposition to say Roku or Apple TV.
The company sold an expensive set-top-box and monthly service that let you watch and record your already free, local, over-the-air HD broadcasts along with internet video content the company streamed to the box.
Anybody ever try using one of these things? I’m told the installation experience left something to be desired and there were too few choices in streaming content.
NewTeeVee has an excellent write-up of the poor value proposition Sezmi offered their users. http://gigaom.com/video/sezmi-says-goodbye-heres-why/.
